Cromer Carnival’s fireworks have been cancelled because of wildfire concerns, but the Red Arrows display is still going ahead.
Cromer Carnival organisers have cancelled this year’s fireworks display because of the continuing risk of wildfires across Norfolk.
The decision follows further assessment of the extremely dry conditions and updated Government guidance on fire risk. Organisers say they had continued to monitor the situation but ultimately decided the display could not safely go ahead.
They say safety has to come first, despite the disappointment for people who had been looking forward to the traditional fireworks during Carnival Week.
But there is still plenty happening in Cromer – and one of the biggest attractions is definitely still on.
The Red Arrows are scheduled to appear at 12.30pm on Wednesday 19 August, performing over Cromer as part of the main Carnival Day celebrations.
The day also includes the Grand Carnival Parade and entertainment on the Carnival Field, with organisers encouraging people to continue supporting the week’s events despite the fireworks cancellation.
For anyone planning a trip to Cromer, the message is simple: the fireworks may be off, but Carnival Day and the Red Arrows are very much still on.
