A 20-year-old man has denied four rape-related charges as part of a wider child sexual exploitation investigation in Norwich.
A 20-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to four rape-related charges as part of a wider investigation into alleged group-based child sexual exploitation in Norwich.
Bilal Shinwari appeared at Norwich Crown Court after previously being extradited from the Republic of Ireland, where he had been arrested in May.
He denied two counts of raping a girl aged under 16 and one count of conspiring to rape a girl under 16 between August and October 2023.
Shinwari also pleaded not guilty to one count of conspiring to rape a woman aged 16 or over between August 2023 and May 2025.
He was remanded in custody following the hearing and is due to stand trial at Norwich Crown Court from 11 January 2027.
Norfolk Police says Shinwari is the eighth person to be charged as part of the investigation. Seven other men have previously pleaded not guilty to charges arising from the same inquiry and are also awaiting trial.
Police say the two alleged victims were in their early-to-mid teens at the time of the alleged offences.
As proceedings remain ongoing, no findings have been made against Shinwari and he remains entitled to the presumption of innocence unless proven guilty in court.
