People are being urged to stay away from a dead whale which has washed up on Hemsby Beach.
The whale, believed to be around 12 feet long, was discovered on the beach after reportedly being seen swimming off the Norfolk coast in recent days.
Great Yarmouth Borough Council has been made aware of the incident and is arranging for the animal to be safely removed.
Members of the public are being asked not to approach or touch the whale and to keep dogs under close control while the carcass remains on the beach.
Marine mammals can carry bacteria and diseases that may pose a risk to people and other animals. Authorities also warn that large stranded animals can become unstable as decomposition begins, making it important to maintain a safe distance.
The incident has attracted interest from beachgoers, but officials are asking visitors to allow specialist teams to carry out their work safely.
The council is working with the appropriate agencies to arrange the removal of the whale and assess the circumstances surrounding its death.
Anyone who discovers a stranded whale, dolphin or porpoise on the coast is encouraged to report it to the appropriate marine wildlife organisations so it can be examined and recorded.
