Latitude Festival has temporarily closed its swimming lake after routine water quality tests failed during the festival weekend.
Festivalgoers at Latitude have been told they can no longer use the site's popular swimming lake after organisers temporarily closed it because of water quality concerns.
The lake, which sits at the heart of the Henham Park festival site near Southwold, is a well-known feature of Latitude and hosts supervised open-water swimming sessions each morning during the event.
However, organisers announced that routine water quality testing had identified a problem, prompting the immediate suspension of all swimming activities as a precaution.
Latitude says the decision has been taken to protect the health and safety of festivalgoers and that the lake will remain closed until further testing confirms it is safe to reopen. Visitors who had booked swimming sessions have been advised to speak to the SwimTrek team at the festival for information about refunds or alternative arrangements.
The festival carries out regular checks on the untreated lake throughout the event, with organisers warning that water quality can fluctuate depending on environmental conditions. Guidance for swimmers also advises against swallowing the water and explains that swimming is suspended if routine tests fail.
Despite the closure, the rest of Latitude Festival is continuing as planned, with thousands of people enjoying four days of live music, comedy, theatre and arts performances across the Henham Park site.
Festival organisers say they will provide further updates if the situation changes over the weekend.
